What a fabulous day! We focused on TEAMWORK. In third grade math, we built place value houses for the number 343 utilizing teamwork and in fourth grade math, we folded origami utilizing teamwork. We applied teamwork skills in the games of soccer and freeze tag at morning recess. All week, we have given direct instructional lessons on various recess games and played as a class with both teachers. All year, we will continue to teach activities to provide structure and friendship to the free play opportunities the kids have each day. We had our first media center check-out time. For writing, we will be writing and decorating large poster-sized All About Me Newspapers. Our first step was to chose a topic for the main paragraph, which tells an important life event and taught us a lesson. Today we chose our event and wrote what it taught us. In the afternoon we continued our teamwork focus, spending more time building a structure out of playing cards. It is challenging!! Most groups felt more success today after we watched a short video to research how to build a house of cards. This is fun family teamwork too! Have your child show off the strategies we used in class.
