Egg-Take Tuesday

Today's learning targets: 

Work hard. Be nice. Have fun.
3rd math: I can use PESL to solve multiplication and division story problems. (Picture/diagram, equation, sentence with label)
4th math: I can use place value to add and subtract multi-digit numbers.
Reading: I can read with my Book Buddy.
Writing: I can get ideas from writing with a partner.
Social Studies:  I can use maps to get information about a place.


Today is a very special day because our salmon eggs were collected from near Lake Michigan today in Manistee!  Here's an explaination from the MI DNR:

"The Little Manistee River weir is an egg-take and salmon harvest facility which is operated by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division. The weir is used to block fish on the Little Manistee River in the spring and fall of the year. Steelhead eggs are taken in the spring and chinook salmon eggs are taken in the fall at the Little Manistee River weir. The eggs taken at the weir are sent to state fish hatcheries where they are reared and stocked all over Michigan. Eggs are also supplied to several other states."
