Monday

The character word of the week is COLLABORATION and TEAMWORK. We are looking at our own individual choices to ask, "What if everyone did that?" Our own contributions to the team can be positive or negative. "What if everyone did that?" We re-read this book as a part of our class meeting today.

Today we learned about the Erie Canal and the steam engine, two innovations that led to dramatic population growth and Michigan's attainment of statehood. We also demonstrated collaborative writing for the class. We are writing opinions of foods "versing" each other with a partner, helping each other to write each other's side of the argument. When we write collaboratively, we strengthen each other's writing. Tomorrow the students will be typing their introductions with their partners using Google Classroom. Here's where we got after today's session. Kids are so excited to read the final publication! 

We also had a fire drill and the class demonstrated amazing behavior. 

• Tomorrow is a Late Start Day. School starts at 9:48 for kids. (Teachers start at 7:15).
• 3^rd: Xtra Math for 15 minutes. Compass Learning: geometry.
• 4^th: Unit 6 review is due tomorrow. Unit 6 test is Wednesday. Math facts for 15 minutes.
• Thursday is Take Your Child to Work Day.
• Bring 3 sharp pencils.
• Mile run is Friday for Seley class.
