Here are our recommendations for parents on how to support your child during the conference:
- Let your child be the leader. He/she should hold the materials and steer you through the agenda.
- You should listen deeply and ask your child questions about their learning. Be supportive of their presentation skills and nurture their efforts to lead the meeting.
- Be positive! Focus on your child's growth as a learner. This day is a celebration!
- If you ask your child to identify his/her learning goals, oftentimes kids are able to set future steps for improvement for themselves. This is a great starting point for you to then have a discussion with your child.
Thursday is a half day, dismissal at 11:30. Conferences run 1:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00. Book Fair!
Friday there is no school.
Our lessons are on pause this week, as we focus on self-reflection and preparing and practicing a presentation for conferences, and we also take the NWEA math test, fact tests, and fourth graders take their unit 4 math test. Next week will be a normal week of learning!
