A recap of Day 10 of learning together...
Today's schedule:
Today we continued our math lessons from last week. Fourth graders compared place value of decimal numbers from their own times running a dash outside. Third graders explored a series of terms and worked collaboratively to identify a pattern to help us predict the 10th term, which we drew on graph paper, and to think about what the 100th term is-and it's too big to draw the whole term and count square by square-so our pattern will be important!
During snack time, we sang Count On Me, and the kids have really come a long way in coming together as a group to sing as one voice. Every Monday, we visit the book room with our reading buddies to choose a week's worth of books at our independent reading levels, then to read in the media center.
We established some norms for commenting on Seesaw and gave kids time to comment on each other's posts as well as to allow a few kids to finish up their posts from last week. Any time 54 kids do a tech activity, there are ALWAYS glitches that need to be worked through. There are at least two kids whose ipads weren't cooperating and whose posts still aren't up. Today's objective was for the 4th graders to teach the 3rd graders how to comment, as well as work through issues like needing to connect to the wifi server. Note there are two ways to log in to Seesaw-as a child and as a parent. We sent home the QR codes for parent log in. Students log in differently at school to post. We will send home their student login QR code once our parents are in to make this as simple as possible :)
Today is recognized as Constitution Day, and we observed this by watching a video of the book Shh! We're Writing the Constitution to learn a bit about this important document. We will study more about government this year and re-visit more Constitutional ideas.
