Today, we began our next writing piece. We are doing a short informational paragraph explaining each classroom job by writing a job description telling how to do the job. Kids are drafting on Google Docs, and we will continue our work this week editing and revising on Google Docs with peers and teacher. By Friday, we will be publishing a Classroom Jobs Manual so that kids can rotate jobs throughout the year and have a reference source to refer to as they perform their responsibilities. This week, Mr. Seley's class is finishing Crenshaw and we will begin a unit of study on the novel Tiger Rising by Kate DeCamillo.
We are studying Energy in science and getting ready to welcome our salmon eggs the first week of November.
In social studies, we are ratifying our classroom Constitutions and learning how students can enforce and uphold our Constitution every day, everyone, everywhere.
Third graders are about ready to review unit 1 and take our end of unit test. We have learned strategies for x0, x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x9, x10, x11 families. Continue to build fluency at home with flashcards and xtramath. We are also learning how to use diagrams, equations with variable for the unknown, and a sentence to tell our answer EVERY TIME we solve a story problem.
Mrs. Davis will be out at science training Tuesday and Thursday this week.
